National School Walkout
This morning, our middle school students joined other middle and high school students across the nation, in a walkout to protest gun violence. Our Student Council had met earlier this month to discuss possible responses to the Parkland, Florida school shooting and subsequent national student activism and decided to join the National School Walkout. The walkout was completely optional and lasted 17 minutes (one minute for each life lost in the Florida shootings last month). Students held up posters honoring those that died and their families and quietly joined the #NeverAgain movement. We are proud of the way that our students have approached this topic in a thoughtful and sensitive way and respect their request to try out this exercise in solidarity.
