Distance Learning is in place at St. Matthew's as of Monday, March 16th and will continue for the duration of the second semester (to May 28th). Families will be notified by staff directly with information specific to their classes and further directions.
In addition, in response to the County of San Mateo's order to shelter-in-place, our school campuses (Baldwin Avenue and Charles House) will be closed to all students, parents, faculty, and staff unless they need to perform essential functions as defined in the order.
St. Matthew's remains focused on the health and safety of our students, faculty, staff, and extended St. Matthew's community members given the evolving public health situation surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
We are monitoring developments and recommendations related to coronavirus, from the World Health Organization, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. State Department, the California Department of Public Health, and the San Mateo County of Public Health. We encourage others to educate themselves by visiting the websites listed at the bottom of this page.
Lastly, it is important to note that per the San Mateo County Health department, risk is based on travel history or the travel history of a person in close contact. Race, ethnicity, or cultural background are NOT risk factors for COVID-19. We understand the anxiety and fear surrounding the coronavirus, which is being fueled by the media. We do, however, believe that our Episcopal values call us towards compassion and justice even in the midst of fear. Maintaining a safe, supportive, and positive school climate that is free of stigmatization is essential to high-quality learning for every student.
