After School Activities




Music


Music classes are provided by From the Heart Music and held on campus one day a week after school for students in First-Eighth grades. Teachers are all performing musicians and highly experienced instructors. Students have the chance to develop and enjoy themselves through musical training and live concerts.

Classes include:

Band: brass, woodwind, drums, percussion, 45-minute session, grades 3-8
Keyboard or Recorder: 30-minute session, grades K-8

Instrumental Instruction: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, bass, drums, percussion, 30-minute session, grades 3-8


Middle School Study Hall


Study Hall is offered Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 3:30-4:30pm.

Procedures

• Students will check in and out with the Study Hall monitor.
• Parents will be billed monthly ( the same fee structure as extended care) for the time spent at Study Hall.
• Students will be dismissed directly to Extended Care.

Expectations

• Study Hall is intended to provide students with a quiet place to complete their homework. Some assistance is available, however, it is not intended for consistent one-on-one tutoring.
• If a student becomes distracting to others, the behavior will be addressed. If the distraction continues, or if the student is disrespectful to the Study Hall monitor, he/she will be directed to the Middle School Director for the remainder of the period. Parents will be billed for the time spent in each of the locations.
• Study Hall ends at 4:30. Students will be dismissed directly to Extended Care.

Ways to enroll your child

Sign up for your child to come on consistent days. If not a regularly scheduled time, please send a note, e-mail or call Miss Fender in the morning to let her know that you would like your child to attend.

Summer Activities



Camp Go

Camp Go is open to children ages 8 - 13. The weeklong session is packed with exciting and different activities. Camp begins and ends each day at St. Matthew's.

Directors: Toni King and Jaemie Robins are Bay Area physical education teachers with over twelve years experience working with children. Both are PE teachers at St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School and have led field study trips, retreats and designed adventure based curriculum.

Hours are 8:00am - 5:00pm and each Thursday is an overnight adventure. Each day is designed to challenge and expose children to new experiences. Campers will develop social skills and learn valuable life lessons.

Camp Go enrollment includes: additional professional instructors, admission to all activities, transportation (train, bus and ferry) and safety and navigation skills.

Sample Daily Schedule

8:00am Drop off at St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School
8:15am Welcome and group activity
8:30am Depart for that day's adventure
5:00pm Return to St. Matthew's

The last Thursday of each session is an overnight adventure and the Friday of each session ends at noon.
