The Annual Fund is an integral component of the Day School's overall budget, and the School's largest source of income after tuition. Gifts to the Annual Fund provide the financial resources that enable St. Matthew's to maintain and expand its exceptional programs, hire and support our excellent faculty and staff, offer tuition assistance, improve facilities and stay on the leading edge of advances in educational technology.
Unrestricted funds make up the largest percentage of gifts and allow the Day School to apply financial resources where it is needed most. This also provides the flexibility within the budget to respond to initiatives that arise throughout the year.

|Stock & Securities|
Making a gift of stock to St. Matthew’s may be beneficial to you from a personal income tax perspective. If you donate stock that has increased in value, and that you have held for more than one year, you pay no capital gains tax on the transaction. You can also take an income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock. Should you have stock losses, sell the stock yourself to realize the loss and take the deduction for tax purposes. Then generate a charitable contribution deduction by donating the cash proceeds of the sale to St. Matthew’s.
Please email email@example.com
or call us at 650-342-5436, ext. 719, or for specific instructions on how to make a stock gift to St. Matthew’s. For tax purposes, you will receive a receipt for the value of your gift from St. Matthew’s.
You may wish to make an Annual Fund pledge to St. Matthew’s now, and fulfill your commitment within the fiscal year. Pledges can be made by filling out the pledge portion of the Annual Fund giving envelope, by calling the Development Office at 650-342-5436, ext. 719, or by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org
A very meaningful way to support St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School is to include the School in your Will or Trust. Contributions made through estate plans help to build the future financial security of the School. If you would like to support the School in this way, we can work with your financial advisor to create the planned giving instrument that works best for you.
|Memorials and Honors|
St. Matthew’s receives many gifts in memory of, or in honor of, classmates, teachers, parents, students and friends. When such gifts are received, the Development Office notifies the family member(s) of the deceased (in the case of memorial gifts) or the honoree (in the case of “in honor of” gifts). These gifts are also acknowledged separately in the Annual Report to Donors.

Please support the school through external giving programs such as Amazon.com, eScrip and Mollie Stone's Community Card. These programs incur no additional cost to you beyond the goods or services you are purchasing, but have the potential to yield tremendous benefit to St. Matthew's students. Frequently Asked Questions
|Q. ||Why not raise tuition to the full amount necessary?|
|A. ||Like other independent schools, St. Matthew’s relies on Annual Fund and event income to make up the roughly 10% difference between tuition revenue and the expenses associated with operating the School. This helps moderate tuition increases and keeps a St. Matthew’s education within reach of more families, thereby fulfilling our mission. In effect, thanks to the generosity of our parents, grandparents, and community, each student’s tuition represents a “discount” from the full cost of achieving programmatic and personal excellence.|
|Q. ||What is an appropriate Annual Fund contribution?|
|A. ||The size of a gift depends on your means, and a gift from every parent is our goal! All gifts are greatly appreciated and make a difference. Gifts at the Pioneer level ($2,500 - $4,499) help meet the shortfall between tuition income and operating expenses. However, the School receives a range of gifts from the Mustangs giving level to Visionary and beyond. Families are encouraged to make their children’s school a top giving priority, and their generosity is evident in the high level of participation in the School’s Annual Fund program. The new giving levels this year, 2016 - 2017, are:|
Visionary: $15,000 and above
Trailblazer: $10,000 - $14,999
Pathfinder: $7,500 - $9,999
Innovator: $4,500 - $7,499
Pioneer: $2,500 - $4,499
Adventurer: $1,500 - $2,499
Explorer: $500 - $1,499
Mustangs: Gifts up to $499
Blue & Gold Young Alumni Society (Class of 2002 to 2016)
|Q. ||What is the intrinsic value of having 100% participation in the Annual Fund?|
|A. ||Knowing that everyone contributes to the Day School's fundraising programs helps strengthen and unite our community behind the School's mission, and the total becomes greater than the sum of its parts. 100% support for the Annual Fund includes faculty, administration and staff.|
