Policies

Through emphasis on individual attention, Christian principles and family involvement, the School's goals are to prepare students for acceptance and academic success in excellent secondary schools and colleges, and, equally important, to help students develop character, compassion, a love of learning and a strong sense of personal and social responsibility.

The ability to thrive and succeed in our challenging academic environment is the primary criterion for admission. Enrollment is open to qualified students without regard to race, creed, ethnic origin or economic status.

Prospective students in:
• Preschool must be three by September 1
• Pre-Kindergarten must be four by September 1,
• Kindergarten must be five by September 1, and
• First Grade must be six by September 1 of the school year for which they are applying.

In accepting new students, priority is given to qualified siblings, parishioners and children of alumni.

St. Matthew's endeavors to maintain a gender balance in each class. In accepting new students, St. Matthew's strives to make the best possible academic and social match for the applicant and the School.

An Application will not be considered unless it is complete. Please see the appropriate checklist for details on what a completed application should include.

St. Matthew's Episcopal Day School recognizes the importance of enrolling a diverse student body, hiring faculty and staff, and recruitment of trustees in order to fulfill the overall mission of the school. The school is committed to pursuing students of racial, ethnic, religious and socio-economic diversity, so that the school community will reflect the diverse nature of the world we serve. A student body that reflects the diversity of our immediate community and beyond will fulfill the school's commitment to outreach and also, prepare our students to be understanding, compassionate and accepting citizens.
